This week has been full of moments that I never imagined in my own life. Here are some of them:
 |
| A new Christmas tradition...I hope |
- Have been told my feet are dirty and had them scrubbed with toothbrushes by 2 dear girls. (They thought my fingernails were dirty, and did the same to my hands)
- Had my sandals scrubbed clean, because that's what we do here on Friday afternoon.
- Cleaned up poop when the septic tank cleaner truck left a pile of it on the driveway/area where everyone walks.
- Started an Advent devotion with the children using this incredible resource to build a Jesse Tree.
- Hosted 13 children at my house to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas. I used the projector and put it up on the big white wall of my house. Magical.
- Watched as a 9 year old girl mopped my house. (She didn't like the way I did it last time.)
- Went to bed at what I thought was 10 and woke up at what I thought was 5 (that's what my clock said). However, it was very light to be 5, and when I checked my phone time, it was actually 6:15. House guests last night played with my clock.
- Decorated my house with white lights. On the inside.
- Witnessed a spontaneous dance party in the office. JOY!!!!!
- Walked up the street in search of colorful rubble. Interrupted men who were scraping garbage off the road to pick through rubble. (Pierre told them I would like to make their job a little easier by taking some of the rubble away. Yes, I was the crazy white lady in flip flops climbing on a pile of rubble on top of a garbage heap. But here's what the rubble is for...
- Had a very difficult conversation with a young lady who is gravely in danger of being sexually assaulted by a brother-in-law
- Had to explain to the older girls where Rudy is
- Emphatically stated that I want to go home, to two of the teachers here at Maison. Pointed to the plane in the sky and said, "They left without me." Was very thankful to have two friends who understand some of my struggles in communication and other areas.
- Sorted beans with Mommy Clenide. She doesn't like the little ones. They are 'pa bon' and they get tossed.
- Learned how to use a Hays Water Purification system. The wonderful people donated the system and showed the ladies how to use it, and now we can have clean water ALL the time no matter the source it comes from. And we can clean everything with this product. I am in awe.
- Is getting ready to go to a Christmas bazaar. In capris and a sleeveless shirt. Bizarre.
