Again

I leave next Tuesday to return to my Haitian family. I can hardly contain my excitement! There are so many things that have to be finished before then that have nothing to do with serving in Haiti. I find it very difficult to stay focused on those things, because I'd much rather be thinking about helping Haitian teachers with their classes. I'd rather be praying with the nannies and staff at noon. But those things will come soon enough.
I am again in awe of how God always provides for the things we need. I asked two second grade classes to help provide school supplies for my Haitian kiddos, and they willing agreed to help. These precious second graders are so excited to share what they have with their Haitian friends! Soon after I spoke to the first class, a small pile of erasers, pencils, and rulers appeared on their teacher's desk. One of the students wants to send a swing set and slide to the orphanage. I told her to start thinking about how that can happen, and she decided we'd need a boat. Another boy said his dad could drive the swing set on his long trailer to the boat in Florida. Oh to see the wheels turn, and the ideas come pouring out! I love when kids start thinking outside themselves to the needs (and fun!) of others around them! What a blessing to be part of that process.
I've had a difficult time focusing my energy and thoughts on what I need to say to help the teachers. I have no idea the training they've received, so I will spend the first couple of days observing the classes. I want to encourage them in their job and to help them see the incredible responsibility they have in shaping future generations through educating these children.
I need to work a bit on that now. I'll try to keep this a bit more updated to avoid sending mass emails. Keep praying that God would be in ALL the details.
