A week in the life...

Samson is growing and thriving.  He opens his eyes for longer periods of time now, and is so much fun to snuggle with.  It is so doggone hot though, that I don't snuggle with him as much as I would like to.
Last week we had a team come from Illinois, just across the river from St. Louis.  They were amazing!  They built a wall in the toddler room, painted it, painted the iron door going outside to the toddler bathroom, and painted the door going outside to the back.  The awesome gals played games with the children and kept them busy during the wall construction.  The kids LOVED using a parachute and little plastic balls!  Bubbles and sidewalk chalk may have been involved as well.
Last Sunday was also the first time I ventured to downtown Port au Prince.  I don't feel like I can put great words to it, so I am linking you to someone who already has.  They've included photos that are way better than any I took.
This week begins the craziness of the next 2 weeks.  I am really looking forward to working with more people that I have only known through email so far.  We have two doctors coming to do therapy with the chilren and staff here.  It is long overdue, but we are thrilled and so blessed to have two at the same time.  We have a construction team coming, a visionary team coming to dream on the land with us, and a ministry/medical team on the 21st.
I have been experiencing a wee bit of homesickness.  I just hit the point of totally missing the people in my life that I love, and like to spend time with.  If I could just go home for the weekend, like I did in college, I'd be good to go for awhile.  But alas, that is not the plan.  And I will survive.  Oh yes I will.
I hope to visit an "American" store next week.  There may be an adventure or two to share with that.
I'm not feeling like a lot of storytelling today, so I'm going to take a Sunday afternoon nap with my Samson.
