A little of this, a little of that

Oh where is my telephone?
Oh where is my telephone?
Oh where oh where oh where oh where oh where…..
Is my telephone?

That’s the song of the day.  I believe the answer to be, “In someone else’s hands.”  It was time for a new one, but the new one isn’t ready yet.  And the sim card was in my old phone, which now no longer belongs to me.

And my lips are dry because I’ve done a lot of talking this week.  No really, like a lot more than usual.  And I haven’t drunk enough water.  That equals dry lips for me.

On to the good news…I started taking Aleve and using this amazing ointment/pomade stuff called Fastac made in India with tons of natural oils and stuff, and I can now officially walk without major pain in my left butt cheek, thigh, and hip.  There may be something happening with my sciatic nerve, but that doesn’t really sound like fun, and Pierre said if it wasn’t better by today (he only gave me 12 hours to improve) then I needed to see a doctor.  I said if it wasn’t any worse, I’d be ok, but if it got any worse at all, then I’d go, and if it wasn’t any better by Friday, I’d go.  So Aleve and twice a day massage with Fastac and I’m sleeping through the night without pain, and walking almost normally.  Hallelujah!!!!!!  I might be doing soft yoga stretches by the end of the weekend!

The number 1 button on the microwave started working again today, after a brief sabbatical.

Apparently I’m not the only one with wildlife spotting capabilities.  Christmathe saw a teeny tiny mouse in the office (in the dark!) and managed to keep it in sight until Marissa clapped a bowl on top of it.  It didn’t even try to get away.  When it was stuck under the bowl awaiting its fate, Daril put one of those little dome shaped rubber things on top of the bowl.  I didn’t realize what it was, and it POPPED up, making a loud thunk and shooting up in the air.  Apparently my reaction was exactly what the jokester was looking for…glad I could oblige.

My nephew’s beloved beta, Baby Fish, died today.  Baby Fish joined the family three years ago, and survived attempts of catching him, Aunt Gee suggesting bath time for Baby Fish—“Aunt Gee, the soap will hurt him!”—and weekly water changes.  Baby Fish, you will be missed, but not forgotten.

Tomorrow I’ll join my friends to make side dishes and desserts for Thanksgiving.  Then we’ll all eat together in a huge expat Haitian-style Thanksgiving.  I’m pretty pumped about this.

Please be praying about some potential housing opportunities.

And to round out this random post of randomness, my thoughts in Facebook status style.  Angie:
  • ·      Doesn’t understand non-chunky bleu cheese dressing.  What’s the point?
  • ·      Thinks carrots are deeee-licious!
  • ·      Loves her autumn dining room table—thanks Ethan and Mom and Katie!
  • ·      Isn’t quite sure that the beef purchased at the store is actually beef.
  • ·      Might need to throw out the baked beans that have been in the fridge for three weeks.
  • ·      Used the word hydroplane today.  Not a super necessary word in Haiti, as your speed is never quite fast enough to accomplish this.
  • ·      Talked with her baby brother on skype today.  Such a treat.  And I miss him just a little.
  • ·      Did a load of bleach laundry today, but failed to consider the backing on a blanket…it was reddish.  Now all my whites have a faint tint of pinkish.
  • ·      Recently discovered the joy of Almond Joy
  • ·      Will put up the Maison Christmas tree on Friday!
  • ·      Is pulling together Advent devotions for the kiddos.
  • ·      Scrubbed and clipped some nails today.  Loved loved loved doing Fequiere’s.  He usually runs and hides when the nanny wants to cut his, but I asked him to come over and he sat right down.  No tears, and a smile and thank you when he left.
  • ·      Told Kenda, “I love you.”  Kenda kissed my cheek and said, “I love you too Miss Angie” with her sweet little lisp.  Melted my heart.

Sympathize with you on the phone thing. My daughter's decided dto stay at Disney for an extended vacation without us.
