From an email I sent to a friend last night:
"He (Rudy) hadn't gained this week. The pediatrician was in every day, and he lost all his water under the skin stuff, and his weight stayed the same, according to the scale here at the o. He started lifting his little fingers to my mouth so I could kiss them. Oh how that pulls on my heart!
We started at Medicins Sans Frontieres, where Rudy weighed in at exactly 4kg (8.8 lbs) but the one on Delmas 31 doesn't deal w/ severe malnutrition, so they sent said we could go to the MSF in Carrefour or to Concern on Delmas 33 (or that's where I thought they said to go) but we wound up at the university hospital (La Paix) on Delmas 33. The last I heard they didn't have an IV in him, and our nanny was just there holding him and taking care of him. I truly hope there is more going on than that.
I'm having a really difficult time allowing this to just happen, when I think so much more should be done. Is this just part of figuring out how to live in Haiti???"
Later last night Franckis had to take a different nanny to stay with Rudy overnight, and he said the doctors were taking care of Rudy, and giving him medicine, but no IV.
Please pray for this sweet little one. Pray that his life would be just as treasured and cared for as children in the US. He is God's masterpiece.
